Partnering with an Insurance Field Marketing Organization? Make Sure You Ask These Questions

Insurance agent

Agents looking for further support have the option to join an insurance field marketing organization (FMO). Many FMOs offer agents a range of benefits, including expedited contracting and useful product updates.

Finding the FMO that can give you what you need, however, is a process. You need to look out for certain things that an FMO should have to make sure that you are joining the right organization.

Before you partner with an FMO, ask these questions to find out if the organization can help you achieve success in your insurance career.

What specific services do you provide to agents?

Every company out there, regardless of industry, will tell you that they provide excellent service. This statement, however, does not give you information on how the organization can help you succeed in your job. Don’t be afraid to ask for specifics. If you’re just starting out as an insurance agent, check if the organization provides services that make your job easier and allow you to sell more insurance products in less time.

How do you communicate to insurance agents?

The last thing you want to hear from an FMO are crickets. Find out how the organization communicates to its agents and how often they do it. Ideally, it would be great if the FMO provides various ways of communication, including but not limited to social media updates, phone calls, email newsletters, and text announcements.

What makes you different from other FMOs?

Getting template responses like “Our commissions are competitive”, “We’re here for you”, or “Our success is your success” does not make them stand out from the rest of the pack. When you’re searching for an FMO, find out if they provide unique points that give them an edge over other competitors.

These are some of the questions you should ask FMOs. On top of these queries, research by checking the organization’s website. It will further help you determine if the FMO has what you need to take your insurance career to the next level.
